Flamingoes of Bahrain

Flamingoes of Bahrain

I live next to Sitra bay and I'm so sad to see less and less of these beautiful birds. They used to hang out next to the Sitra bridge by the dozens. Nowadays, I can hardly see a few left. The picture was taken in November 2003.

wow!

I have never ever seen anything like this. In Bahrain, we alwasy hear about the past of Bahrain being a bird haven, especially in the bays, but never have i heard that flamingoes were among those birds. In fact, I was beginning to think it was all a myth, a legend amidst Bahrain's mystique.
This is a beautiful picture, indicative of the extreme beauty that Bahrain once had. Yesterday, I was talking to somebody with faith in the idea that nature always fixes itself. He believes that one day we will be able to drink from fresh streams again; who knows, maybe the flamingoes will come back to us.

haha!

Your friend is living an illusion. Unless he's talking about 200 years from now. I believe once we invent fusion reactors we will have a clean environment, but not until than.

hoho!

That's what i thought too. But i thought it was a 'nice' idea. The photo made me feel romantic, i guess... nothing more to it than that, unfortunately ;)
